Although Frank Launder couldn't resist the temptation of returning to his old stamping ground in 1980's The Wildcats of St Trinian's, this very lacklustre entry should have been the last in the series based on Ronald Searle's stories about the out-of-control schoolgirls. Frankie Howerd's limitations as a film actor are all too apparent in this feeble mix of vulgar comedy and Swinging Sixties satire. Richard Wattis does sterling work as the man from the ministry, but, try as they might, Dora Bryan, Reg Varney and Stratford Johns (providing the booming voiceover) can't hold a candle to the much missed Alastair Sim and Joyce Grenfell. George Cole makes a welcome though brief appearance as Flash Harry.
