Arguably, since the advent of "torture porn" movies like Hostel, French New Wave horror has become the edgiest and most brutal produced around the world. This steel-yourself shocker from writer/director Xavier Gens (Hitman) is a splatter spectacular about Paris thieves hiding out in a guest house near the French border that is run by degenerate neo-Nazi cannibals. While holing up there, nymphomaniac freaks and crazed butchers led by a jackbooted madman see pregnant "heroine" Karina Testa as the breeding machine for a new master race. Tapping into the political, racial and social issues blighting contemporary France, yet coming up with nothing new in the survival-horror stakes, Gens still ticks plenty of extremely offensive boxes with over-hysterical glee. But the blending of caricature Nazis with a demented flesh-eating family straight out of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is pure overkill.
