The second in Re-Animator producer Brian Yuzna's "Made in Spain" movies under the Fantastic Factory umbrella label is no improvement on the first, Faust: Love of the Damned. An air force jet crashes into a UFO and the zoological alien cargo is showered over a South Pacific island. A research team, investigating the outbreak of an unknown virus on the island, find themselves fighting mutant bugs instead, culminating in a battle royal with a giant spider. Saddled with a stupid story, an equally stupid script and duff special effects, director Jack (The Hidden) Sholder aims squarely for rapid-fire incident but even that desperate tangent fails to excite in a survival of the fittest adventure where the questionable winner is clearly the viewer who lasts until the final credits roll.

Mercer's brother, an amateur pilot, crashes on an island and is killed by a giant spider. A year later, when Mercer goes in search of him, she discovers a breed of poisonous arachnids ready to attack.
