In this fluffy, New York-set romantic comedy, Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up) plays Jane, a woman who is always the bridesmaid, never the bride - and she has 27 bridesmaid dresses in her wardrobe to prove it. Her story attracts the attention of newspaper wedding columnist Kevin (James Marsden). He falls for Jane, but she has eyes only for her oddly oblivious boss, George (Edward Burns), whose interest lies with her sister Tess (Malin Akerman). This being Hollywood, of course, there are no prizes for guessing how these issues are resolved. The target audience for Anne Fletcher's film is unashamedly feminine and it duly delivers no surprises - yet there is something oddly reassuring about that. It's like the cinematic equivalent of an old comfort blanket.
